The source of my strength
“He gives power to the weak…”
Isaiah 40:29 NKJV
There is an enormous bronze statue located in Rockefeller Center, New York created by Lee Lawrie and Rene Paul Chambellan which depicts the ancient Greek Titan, Atlas. These seven tons, forty-five feet tall sculpture which was installed in 1937, has Atlas carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Too often people tire of carrying “the weight of the world” on their shoulders. We depend too much on our own strength and abilities to get us through difficult days, distressing discissions, and disastrous developments.
The problem is that God has not designed us to carry all those things. It’s not His desire that we should suffer under undue stress, many times that we have been brought upon ourselves, but to turn to the real source of eternal strength and support. So, where does that strength come from?
The Old Testament Prophet Isaiah says that strength is found in the Lord. “He gives power to the weak, and to those who have no might…” But Isaiah continues and tells us that isn’t the end of it. He continues by telling us that “…. He increases strength.” (Isaiah 40:10 NKJV).
So, stop trying to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders, turn to the Lord, who is the source of all strength and might.
